Dr. Armita Hezarkhani
Dr. Armita Hezarkhani was born in Germany, and has lived in Toronto, Canada, and the north suburbs of Illinois. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, earning degrees in Neuroscience and Music. There, community outreach through Operation Smile triggered an interested in dentistry. Dr. Armita traded in the snow for sun, attending the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Mesa, Arizona, receiving her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) and Master’s in Public Health (MPH), where she received excellence awards from the Western Society of Periodontology and International College of Dentists. Her interest in public health led to research pertaining the effects of e-cigarettes on oral health and clinician knowledge. She then completed a three-year specialty program in periodontics at the University of Illinois-Chicago where she earned a Master of Oral Sciences degree.
She is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Midwest Society of Periodontology, Chicago Dental Society, and Illinois State Dental Society. She is licensed in the state of Illinois and is board-eligible with the American Academy of Periodontology. She works part-time at UIC College of Dentistry as a clinical assistant professor. Her research interests continue to focus on e-cigarette effects on oral health and post-acute sequalae conditions from COVID-19 in relation to periodontal disease.
Outside of the office, Dr. Armita enjoys spending time with family and friends in Chicago, traveling (to find new recipes), walks with her family’s goldendoodle Ginger, and playing the piano.
